Ondo state governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu made a triumphant entry to the state capital, Akure, Friday afternoon after surviving an undisclosed health issue which kept him out of office for over two months.
On hand to welcome him back to the state at at the airport were his deputy, Agbola Ajayi, the Olowa of Igbara-Oke Oba Dr. Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede, Olugbo of Ugbo, Oba Dr. Fredrick E.O. Akinruntan, Deji of Akure, Oba Ogunlade Aladelusi, Osemawe of Ondo Oba Dr. Adesimbo Kiladejo, Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin. Members of state House of Assembly, LG Chairmen, Security Chiefs, Market men & Women among others.
Governor Akeredolu came in from Abuja where he was believed to be recuperating.
Opposition in the state had exposed what it described as attempt to coverup the bad health condition of the governor, alleging food poison.
In the governor’s absence, governance was at its lowest ebb, even with stories about the unhealthy relationship between the governor and his deputy coming to the fore.
Before the governor’s sudden disappearance from office, information leaked regarding the outcome of a meeting between the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s team and the governor where it was allegedly moved that Aketi should do away with his deputy for a Tinubu nominee as deputy being condition for Aketi to get Tinubu’s support for the governor’s second term bid.
Though, the condition was said not to have gone down well with the governor, this did not prevent insinuations from the public about an unhealthy relationship between the governor and his deputy, which sources also alleged accounted for the low level governance in the state while the governor was away.
